WoW 128: On recovering integrity [Words of Wisdom]
Show notes
Finding True Belonging Through Integrity.
In this episode, we explore the essential connection between integrity and a genuine sense of belonging. I share insights on how lacking integrity can affect our depth of belonging and the stability of our lives, regardless of whether others are aware of our shortcomings. Drawing on my experiences with clients and referencing authors like Michael Dye and Derek Sivers, I delve into the importance of facing our failures and choosing to surrender to God as the first steps towards recovering personal integrity. The discussion underscores the role of the Holy Spirit in highlighting our destructive patterns and the power of discipline in turning our intentions into action. The episode wraps up with a series of reflective questions designed to prompt deeper self-examination and guide listeners towards making disciplined, integrity-driven choices in their daily lives.

128 On Recovering Integrity Belonging
is a fundamental human quest.
2
:If you lack integrity, you lack depth of
belonging, whether others know it or not.
3
:If you have fallen short of
God's standards, you must
4
:recover your own integrity.
5
:Without personal integrity,
you will never truly belong.
6
:Without integrity, you will lack the
solid foundation to build your life apart.
7
:The more influence you want to have, the
deeper your roots of integrity must be.
8
:The taller the tree, the deeper the roots.
9
:Without integrity, you can grow in
skill and influence, but it won't last.
10
:Your life will crumble away
beneath you as you grow.
11
:So even if you experience
success, and others are not aware
12
:of your unconfessed issues, it
will catch up to you eventually.
13
:And then, those that matter to
you the most will be devastated.
14
:I see this all the time with my clients.
15
:Some have all the success in the
world, in a beautiful family.
16
:They are the picture of success.
17
:But without integrity, life teeters
on the brink of ruin, and they
18
:desperately try to recover it all.
19
:Everything in your life, if you
want flourishing to last, Must
20
:be built on rock solid integrity.
21
:You recover integrity first by choosing to
surrender to God instead of running away.
22
:Face yourself and the reality
of how you have fallen short.
23
:No matter how far you've
strayed, return to the Lord.
24
:With humility, the greatest courage
is finally choosing to stop running
25
:and to face whatever God has for you.
26
:It turns out that facing your fears
is the only way to overcome them.
27
:Choose to be rigorously honest.
28
:And let others in.
29
:Choose to risk letting
people disciple you.
30
:Let them see your darkness
and your difficulties.
31
:Choose to be vulnerable and
submit yourself to their wisdom.
32
:Quotes.
33
:I believe that the main work of
the Holy Spirit is to search your
34
:heart and life, bringing destructive
patterns into your awareness that
35
:hinder your God given potential.
36
:Conviction is a product of love.
37
:Trusting God by giving Him control is
what is necessary in order to change.
38
:The mission of the Holy Spirit is
to set you free and to reduce the
39
:enemy's influence in your life.
40
:The most powerful and successful changes
come from participating with what He is
41
:bringing into your conscious awareness.
42
:By Michael Dye in his book
The Genesis Process Discipline
43
:turns intentions into action.
44
:Discipline means no procrastination.
45
:Discipline means now.
46
:Choose the pain of discipline,
not the pain of regret.
47
:An undisciplined moment seems
harmless, but they add up to disaster.
48
:Without discipline, the tiny
things will be your downfall.
49
:Derek Sivers, in his book, How to Live.
50
:Questions.
51
:How have I fallen short?
52
:What do I need to turn from?
53
:What have I been avoiding?
54
:Am I willing to fully surrender to God?
55
:Will I choose to entrust the outcomes
and all that is out of my control to Him?
56
:What is the simplest way
to grow in integrity today?
57
:What is a small disciplined
step forward that I can take?

integrity and watch what God will do.
